14th December 2016
As Christmas looms on our calendars, we're all starting to wind down for the end of the year. While the kids might be excitedly looking forward to Christmas Day, Vanuatu is looking forward to 2017 where some exciting new experiences await your Vanuatu holidays. There's so much for visitors to discover including a range of new activities, accommodation and dining options. Whether you're into rustic coffee shops, luxury resorts perched on crystal clear lagoons, unique Melanesian restaurants or secluded island retreats, Vanuatu has everything you need to create lasting memories.
Tamanu on the Beach
While the name of this boutique resort may not be new, almost everything else is. Having been damaged by Cyclone Pam in 2015, this four-star property is looking better than even after a full makeover and reconstruction. Retaining much of its original privacy and romance, this hidden gem has now expanded to cater for a higher standard of traveller with more luxury amenities. Re-opened in December 2016, Tamanu on the Beach has more than doubled its original six rooms with 15 discreet air-conditioned villas complete with private balconies and stand-alone raised baths. Some even boast their own private pools. The resort's renowned fine dining restaurant has also returned, showcasing fresh local produce with a distinct Melanesian twist.
The Deli Kitchen
The latest offering from famous local catering service Kandy's Kitchen, The Deli Kitchen is a newly opened shop located on Port Vila's Mele Road. Previously, the fine foods, gourmet grub and homemade lunches served up by Kandy's was only available via a catering service but now locals and hungry travellers can pop into the small industrial yet rustic coffee hub to indulge in a cup of Vanuatu's richly-flavoured and famous Tanna Coffee as well as a variety of juices, fresh fruit smoothies, toasted muesli and yoghurt, salads and French croissants. The Deli Kitchen adheres to Kandy's concept of 'real food, real people and real coffee' for an idyllic place to relax or refuel on the road.
Rarru Rentapao River Tours
Located on the main island of Efate, the Rentapao River is a tranquil area near Port Vila with a constantly flowing river that cuts its way through the lush landscape of Vanuatu. The Rarru Rentapao River tours offer many new and exciting ways to get up close and personal with this stunning natural scenery. Complementing the much-loved Canoe the Riri River tour, visitors can plunge into the clear blue waters from a rope swing and swim among the resident local fish in the refreshing waters. A true Vanuatu sanctuary, travellers can paddle from a viewing platform swimming all the way up stream to a stunning cascading waterfall. Here you can relax in one of the large inflatable tubes and let all your cares float away.
